About Quilt Artist Debra
Welcome to my world of quilting, where fabric, texture, and colour come together to evoke emotions and preserve traditions. My name is Debra, and I am a quilt artist passionate about transforming simple scraps of fabric into intricate and meaningful works of art.
My first memory of the power of textiles came from a quick trip out as a very young child, which gave me my first experience of colour, texture and comfort through fabric. Do you remember those pink, white and blue striped cotton sheets we had in the ‘olden days’? That’s what I was snuggled in, and I totally fell in love with it. My only memory is of the softness, warmth, strength and care in that time, and I’ve had a passion for quilts and blankets ever since.
I started my maker’s journey in junior school with the usual cross stitch and patchworks, and have continuing ever since. Whether inspired by heritage, nature, or modern design, each quilt I create is made as a labour of love, stitched with care and, I hope you agree, creativity. Through my art, I strive to bring warmth, comfort, and beauty into every piece, making each one a unique reflection of my own craftsmanship and imagination.
